St. Pius X is like my second home as my daughters attended elementary school here, I was a substitute teacher for several years, and am starting my 28th year as a middle school educator. Being part of the education profession was always where I wanted to be. My first “teaching assignment” found my best friend and me as basketball coaches and I was hooked when the team earned the championship trophy. After teaching for three years for Toledo Public Schools, I “retired” to raise my family and finally came to St. Pius X as a teacher after spending time as a room mother, Scout leader, basketball and soccer coach, and classroom sub. I truly love the feeling of family at St. Pius as evidenced by the fact that many former students find themselves as parents of current students including my own daughter. (It’s always nice to hear Hi, Grandma in the hallway!) For me, the best affirmation of what St. Pius X is all about is when former students return to share their successes or just to say thanks for how well our school has prepared them for high school and beyond.
